I normally wouldn’t want to write something this personal, but I realize My life is about to be so different and so impacted I wanted to find a way to share with everyone all at once what’s going on.
So, anyone sort of close to Me know that I’ve suffered from debilitating menstrual cycles for most of My adult life.
In My twenties it was discovered I actually have a pretty rare anomaly of having two uteruses, and a complete cervical septum.
Around a decade ago I began gaining weight specifically in My stomach area and My periods became markedly worse.
Symptoms range from severe nausea and vomiting, inability to eat for days at a time, leading to weakness. Severe blood loss. I’m talking like going thru overnight pads within 2 hours.
Because of My cervical septum and two vaginal openings, I can’t wear tampons. I will just bleed out the other side.
I spend most of the cycle in overnight pads that are huge like diapers, and because of My severe latex allergy there’s only one brand I can even wear.
I pass huge blood clots.
My periods last for 10-14 days.
The two uteruses sometimes don’t even bleed at the same time and so I get two periods either at a time or layered on top of each other.
I also suffer from incredible cramps that things like midol don’t even touch, migraines, light sensitivity.
The bloating starts a full week before the other symptoms start and it feels much like I have a basketball inside of Me that gets more and more inflated. Causing Me to grunt and groan every time I bend over, making things like just putting on shoes painful.
On top of all that fun stuff, I have frequent urination and diarrhea for about a week.
It all takes it’s toll. I get exhausted, fatigued, extremely irritable.
Every month there’s 5-10 days I have to stop whatever I am doing to vomit and piss and shit and bleed and cry. It derails My entire life and holds Me back from everything.
Recently with new insurance!!!!! I’ve discovered even more:
That I’ve got endometriosis, as well as uterine fibroids.
The largest fibroid is about the size of an orange, and is pressing onto My bowels.
Causing IBS. Basically My bladder and bowels are constantly inflamed and irritated as these things grow and cause more pressure.
The blood loss causes anemia.
I feel like a shell of a human and meatsuit every month.
It’s not sexy fun or cute.
I always have a vague idea of when it’s coming but just when I thin I’ve got it pegged down and I schedule something for a certain time because I’m sure that it will be a “safe week”, My body goes and changes and I’m like 2 weeks late and the whole cycle is thrown off and I have to unexpectedly cancel stuff.
My OBGYN here was not comfortable taking My case because it’s so involved and she didn’t have experience with such extreme didelphys. She referred me to a GREAT surgeon in Springfield MA who seems wonderful and knows all about My condition and actually has experience with this.
Lo and behold:
I will be getting surgery in April!
A complete double hysterectomy, removing both uteruses, My fallopian tubes and My cervix.
At the same time removing any endometrial growth and the fibroids.
Recently while doing some intake questions for pre surgery consults, we discovered that this affliction affect me negatively 2+ weeks per month. Half of the month. Half of My life.
Lived in extreme pain and discomfort.
The thought of having relief is so amazing to Me, something I never truly thought would happen.
I will be unavailable through the month of May, except t touch base about business with My assistant.
Yes, I got an assistant. She’s been awesome and I have all the faith in the world that she can keep things running smoothly while I am out, and also that she is going to help Me grow the business in new ways I have been unable to on My own.
I’ll return in June at partial capacity and still be doing model onboarding and one on one consults, but she’ll be handling the bulk of emails and day to day stuff.
The other very big news is that I’ll be MOVING. Yes, a big move. Buying some land and a home with My wife and will be moving outside of the state of Massachusetts for the first time in well over a decade.
With all these big huge life things going on, the remainder of the year will be about healing, self care and taking things slowly and easily. REST and nest.
Also, it’s My birthday this week. I turn 43 on tuesday.
I’m not exactly sure I thought I’d be around this long, and I feel like every day is a gift, even a day in pain. I have so much more life to live!
I love being the best version of Myself I can be. The healthiest. The most sober. The most well rested, and not overworked and stressed out.
Some folks have inquired about a gofundme for my surgery. I don’t know if I am gonna do that.
BUT folks who wanna contribute something to the recovery fund for things like dog walkers and takeout and new pajamas and underwear and to account for all the unpaid time I’m gonna have to take off, feel free to send Me a lil somethin something:
